What to expect from our sessions
I offer a free 15-minute phone call to all new clients. We can discuss what you’re looking for in a therapist and see if we would be a good fit. Get in touch with me to find out my current availability and schedule a call.
I think it’s essential to find the right therapist for you, so if it doesn’t feel right to you, or if I don’t have the availability, I’m happy to suggest some other therapists who might be suitable.
After we’ve spoken on the phone, we can then arrange a 50-minute initial session. In this session, you can tell me more about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to gain from it. The next step would be for us to meet on a regular basis, usually weekly or fortnightly. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
Some people come to therapy knowing that they want to work on something particular for a certain amount of time. For other people, it’s more open-ended. We can discuss what you have in mind during our initial session, and there is always room for this to evolve over time.
It’s up to you whether you’d prefer to meet in person or remotely. If we meet in person, this will be at my therapy room in the Lace Market, Nottingham City Centre.
While this is primarily ‘talking therapy’, I can also incorporate some experiential and creative arts in to our therapy sessions if you feel this would suit you. I also work in a way that acknowledges the mind-body connection and how thoughts and feelings can be experienced as physical sensations in the body.
There’s more information about my therapeutic approach on this page, more practical info in the FAQs, or you can get in touch with me here.
Location
I am based at Gothic House, Barker Gate, Nottingham, NG1 1JU (near The Angel Microbrewery and Motorpoint Arena).
The building is easily reached by public transport. Lace Market Tram Stop is a 5-minute walk away, and Nottingham Train Station is around a 15-minute walk.
Paid on-street parking is available via the RingGo app, or the NCP Stoney Street car park is a 2-minute walk away. There are also some disabled parking spaces available on Barker Gate.
Unfortunately, Gothic House does not have step-free access. There are approximately 10 shallow steps at the main entrance, and a small passenger lift within the building to take you up to the third floor, where my therapy room is.
My therapy room is designed to accommodate a variety of sensory needs, with adjustable lighting, different seating options, no strong scents, and plenty of fidget toys.
If you have any other accessibility needs and would like to check if I can accommodate them, please feel free to get in touch.
